Registered Psychotherapist
PBANZ., MAPANZ., MNZAC., NZACAP(Affl)
I am registered with the New Zealand Board of Psychotherapists and have been in private practice for more than twenty years. Initially, I qualified as a primary and preschool teacher with further training in Special Education and Early Intervention, in particular work with children diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum.
I have also worked therapeutically in an interdisciplinary setting with infants born extremely prematurely and their families. The understanding of human development across the ages underpins my practice and I work psychodynamically, integrating psychoanalytic perspectives. I have a particular interest in the earliest relationships and how these relationships reflect the individual‘s development and progression throughout their lifespan and also intergenerationally.
Infant, maternal, and paternal mental health are areas of specific focus. I am a member of the Infant Mental Health Association of New Zealand and am an Accredited Supervisor for the relationally based, infant led dyadic intervention, Watch Wait and Wonder in Australasia.
I also work as a Supervisor for a range of practitioners in the Health, Education and Mental Health sectors, I am ACC accredited and maintain a small number of individual adult clients in my private practice at the Harakeke Centre and in North Canterbury.
